Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Contract Specialist II reporting to the Network Operations/Contracting Manager plays a critical role in managing contracts within the PHSO. This position demands a strong grasp of healthcare regulations and contract law to develop negotiate and oversee a variety of agreements including service provider and vendor contracts.


Key responsibilities include drafting reviewing and negotiating contract language and rates ensuring all documentation is accessible to DHMSO staff electronically and in hardcopy. The Specialist will be crucial in ensuring all contracts comply with relevant laws and organizational policies collaborating closely with legal finance and compliance teams to mitigate risks and secure favorable terms.

The role also involves monitoring contract performance compliance and renewal dates as well as maintaining a comprehensive contract management system for accurate record-keeping. The Contract Specialist II will act as a primary contact for external partners on contract matters organize and attend relevant meetings and perform general office and clerical duties. Additionally they will secure one-case agreements with non-contracted providers when needed and provide administrative support to designated management staff. This position is vital for ensuring all contracts are compliant cost-effective and aligned with organizational objectives.

***This role is work from home within California preferrable within the Central or Southern CA regions.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:


- 6 years experience working in a high-level administrative support position.
- 2 years working in a medical group health plan hospital or other related healthcare -depth knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA Stark Lawand Anti-Kickback Statute.
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration Healthcare Administration Law or related field.
- Proven track record of successful contract negotiation and administration.

Preferred Qualifications:


- Masters degree in Business Administration Healthcare Administration Law or related field preferred.
- 8 years experience working in a high-level administrative support position preferred.
- 4 years working in a medical group health plan hospital or other related healthcare organization preferred.
