Job Title: Food & Beverage Manager
Reports To: Director of Culinary Services
Job Summary
The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for leading the front-of-house dining experience across The Glebes Independent Living venues including the Allegheny Dining Room Ridgeview Eatery Terrace Fireside Coffee Shop and catered events. This role is focused on hospitality excellence service standards team leadership and resident satisfaction.
The Food & Beverage Manager ensures a welcoming restaurant-style dining experience by overseeing service staff coordinating daily operations and fostering a culture of professionalism teamwork and accountability. This position works closely with culinary leadership to align service execution with menu offerings while maintaining consistency quality and a high level of resident engagement.
Qualifications
- Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in hospitality food & beverage restaurant hotel country club or senior living dining environments
- Strong front-of-house leadership experience including service standards staff supervision and guest relations
- Proven ability to lead teams manage schedules and drive service excellence
- Excellent communication organization and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) preferred but not required
- Senior living experience preferred particularly in Independent Living or hospitality-driven environments
Core Responsibilities
Front-of-House Dining & Hospitality Leadership
- Leads and oversees daily dining room and service operations to ensure a consistent high-quality restaurant-style experience
- Sets models and enforces service standards hospitality expectations and professional presentation
- Ensures residents and guests feel welcomed valued and engaged during every dining interaction
- Actively monitors meal service dining room flow and resident feedback to continuously improve the dining experience
- Serves as Manager on Duty as scheduled providing visible leadership during service periods
- Leverages dining and workforce technology systems to enhance communication and efficiency including eMenu for resident ordering and menu access UKG for accurate timecard approval Uniguest for promoting menus and specials throughout the community and WeCareConnect to support continuous staff feedback and satisfaction.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Recruits interviews hires trains coaches and mentors front-of-house service staff
- Builds strong engaged teams by setting clear expectations and providing consistent feedback
- Conducts performance evaluations coaching conversations and corrective actions when necessary
- Develops supervisors and team members with a focus on growth accountability and succession planning
- Creates and delivers service-focused training and education programs
- Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Culinary Services to oversee labor budgets ensuring appropriate staffing levels wage control and adherence to approved FTE targets.
Service Operations & Coordination
- Collaborates with the Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure seamless coordination between kitchen and service
- Oversees dining room setup service flow special functions and catered events
- Assists with staff scheduling payroll oversight and coverage planning
- Manages service-related inventory including china glassware linens and smallwares
- Assists with bar operations ordering specials and service deployment
Resident Experience & Engagement
- Maintains a visible presence in dining venues to build rapport with residents and gather real-time feedback
- Addresses resident concerns promptly and professionally escalating issues when appropriate
- Participates in resident meetings wellness committees and special event planning
- Actively contributes to initiatives that enhance resident satisfaction and overall quality of life
Performance Expectations
- Demonstrates strong leadership presence and hospitality mindset
- Maintains consistent service standards across all dining venues
- Effectively manages staff time and resources to meet operational goals
- Communicates clearly and professionally with residents team members and leadership
- Promotes teamwork accountability and a positive dining culture
- In the spirit of teamwork and collaboration the Food & Beverage Manager must be willing to support additional dining service needs as assigned by the Director of Culinary Services which may include oversight or support of dining operations within Healthcare Memory Care and Assisted Living as needed.
Compliance & Quality Support
- Ensures service operations align with applicable food safety sanitation and facility standards
- Remains knowledgeable of relevant regulatory requirements impacting dining services
- Supports quality improvement initiatives and survey readiness as directed
- Maintains professionalism confidentiality and adherence to organizational policies
