Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) Australia New Zealand and South Pacific (AUNZSP) is Visas advisory division working with Visas clients on a broad range of key business initiatives including strategy operational optimisation customer engagement and overall business profitability.

VCA is made up of three services lines - Advisory Data Science and Implementation Services the latter being the execution arm of VCA. Our Implementation Services squads are embedded on client sites leading long-term engagements and delivering value primarily through implementation and execution services. We deliver objectives from a shared value agenda but are also closely connected to the broader VCA team sharing knowledge and bringing the best of Visa to the client.

We are seeking an Automation Tester to join one of our banking clients in Wellington on a 12-month fixed-term contract starting in January/February 2026. In this embedded role youll help deliver new-generation digital lending experiences. As part of a collaborative customer-focused team youll report to the Engineering Lead and work closely with developers solution architects and analysts.

Role Summary & Responsibilities

As an Automation Tester you will plan and deliver quality activities for moderately complex work balancing depth and efficiency to meet delivery timelines without compromising risk. Youll make informed testing decisions across system layers improve test design and maintainability and build clear reporting on outcomes. Youll diagnose issues resolve defects and coverage gaps and apply structured thinking to process improvements.

Youll collaborate across teams support evidence-based decisions and engage with the business on acceptance testing. Youll also support others through mentoring pairing or community contribution championing inclusive and thoughtful conversations around quality.

Highlights of your role include:

  • Plan and deliver test activities for moderately complex systems.
  • Make informed testing decisions and improve test design efficiency and maintainability.
  • Build reporting to clearly present outcomes.
  • Diagnose and resolve defects coverage gaps and process inefficiencies.
  • Plan testing based on risk complexity and impact; ensure test coverage.
  • Apply test pyramid principles for cost-effective automation.
  • Build strong cross-team relationships and support acceptance testing.
  • Mentor and support others contributing to a culture of quality.

Qualifications :

Key Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of quality engineering experience.
  • Proficient in automation tools frameworks and test strategies across multiple layers including mobile if applicable).
  • Key skills: Manual Testing Playwright or other test frameworks.
  • Beneficial skills: CI/CD Automation end-to-end testing.
  • Experience with E2E API and User Interface testing.
  • Lead quality efforts and automation strategy balancing speed and reliability.
  • Build relationships and influence outcomes across teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
