Overview
Harlequin a division of HarperCollinsis seeking a qualified Mechanic Technician - 2nd Shift (2:30pm-11:00pm). Looking for shift flexability for training purposes.
A Mechanic Technician works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and collaborates with the Maintenance Team to set up troubleshoot repair and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. This shift will primarily do preventive maintenance but will also assist with issues in our Short Print Run department.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:
Equipment Setup & Maintenance
- Set up all production equipment as needed.
- Perform scheduled routine preventative maintenance to keep equipment operating efficiently and minimize downtime.
- Conduct machine changeovers throughout the day based on production needs.
- Support 5S initiatives by maintaining clean organized and safe work areas free from debris and pallets.
- Maintain various maintenance and downtime logs and required paperwork accurately.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Perform mechanical adjustments to ensure equipment and machines operate smoothly.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and the ability to repair equipment.
- Fabricate parts guards or other devices as necessary to maintain safe working conditions and continuous operations.
Team Support & Communication
- Assist in training new associates in equipment operation maintenance and safety procedures.
- Communicate clearly with supervisor and team members regarding equipment updates production delays or quality concerns.
- Perform additional duties as needed
Qualifications
Education Experience & Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with controls (i.e. photo eyes & sensors).
- Proficient with Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to add subtract multiply divide and count.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and make necessary repairs with some direct supervision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate equipment status production impacts and quality concerns to team members and supervisors.
- 2-3 years of proven experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of conveyors hydraulics pneumatics and some electrical systems.
- Basic PLC knowledge is a plus.

Pay: Starting at $25/hr. Salary will commensurate with experience.
