Position Overview
St. Edmunds Academy seeks a strategic mission-driven ChiefFinancial Officer a senior leadership role that serves as both a strategic partner to theHead of School and the hands-on leader of the schools financial and operational
systems. This role oversees an $8 million operating budget and leads key operationalareas including finance HR facilities technology food service risk management andcompliance. The CFO will play a central role in supporting SEAs next chapter of growthand ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations including budgeting forecasting audit 990
preparation and investment and cash management - Oversee HR functions: hiring onboarding benefits training compliance annual
contracts - Provide leadership and supervision for facilities security technology and food
service teams - Partner with the Head of School and Board committees on long-range financial
and strategic planning - Support enrollment and advancement teams with financial aid tuition billing and
contract management - Oversee risk management insurance programs and regulatory compliance
- Build mentor and support a strong Business Office team grounded in trust
clarity and accountability.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have deep financial expertise with a bachelors degree in accounting finance or
business (MBA/CPA preferred). - Bring 710 years of progressive finance and operations experience ideally in
schools or nonprofits. - Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex
information clearly. - Balance strategic vision with hands-on operational leadership.
- Model high integrity and alignment with SEAs core values of integrity respect
responsibility and service. - Collaborate effectively across departments and build relationships rooted in trust
and transparency.
