The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water managing wastewater and stormwater and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEPs water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systems 2000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees a staff of approximately 900 and manages crucial areas such as customer services information technology procurement budgeting audits facilities executive administration and the NYC Water Board. These units work collaboratively to ensure the agencys fiscal needs are met and in compliance with financial accounting and auditing requirements.
The CFO is seeking to hire a Special Assistant to the Office of the CFO who will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The selected candidate will provide executive-level management and administrative support in the day-to-day operations of the CFO Deputy CFO and Deputy Commissioner Budget. The role includes performing related duties and special projects as required.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
-Serve as lead support person on two long-term projects including the agency restacking and space planning exercise and the record retention digitization and disposition project. Duties include analyzing data from real estate consultants coordinating data validation with bureau leadership confirming operational requirements and assisting the agency archivist in developing a phased multi-year plan.
-Track managerial and non-managerial carryovers and managerial leave day usage for bureaus serviced by executive administration. Collect aggregate and analyze key procurement and budget data from executive administration bureaus to inform Deputy CFO decision-making.
-Serve as Agency liaison for Professional Organization Membership requests. Track new requests and renewals ensure timely review and approval and collaborate with the Budget Office to secure funding.
-Coordinate special projects for the Budget Office delivering analyses reports or requests for information that require agency-wide communication and coordination. Manage recruitment activities related to the Summer Intern program including performing budget and bureau requests in CRM drafting and submitting job posting submissions conducting interviews serving as the Agency contact for selected candidates and preparing onboarding documentation.
ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF ANALYST ( - 1002A
Qualifications :
1. A masters degree from an accredited college in economics finance accounting business or public administration human resources management management science operations research organizational behavior industrial psychology statistics personnel administration labor relations psychology sociology human resources development political science urban studies or a closely related field and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration accounting economic or financial administration or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis operations research organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration recruitment position classification personnel relations employee benefits staff development employment program planning/administration labor market research economic planning social services program planning/evaluation or fiscal management; or in a related area. 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive managerial administrative or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in 1 above including the 18 months of executive managerial administrative or supervisory experience as described in 1 above.
