Summary
The Sterile Processing Coordinator supports daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department ensuring safe timely and compliant cleaning sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments. This role coordinates workflow supports staff and serves as a key liaison with the OR and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily SPD workflows (decontamination assembly sterilization distribution)
- Monitor instrument turnaround times and prioritize urgent cases
- Ensure compliance with AAMI AORN OSHA CDC and Joint Commission standards
- Support staff training onboarding and adherence to SOPs
- Manage instrument inventory loaner trays and equipment issues
- Communicate effectively with OR and clinical leadership
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 5 years Sterile Processing experience
- Active certification (CRCST CSPDT or CBSPD)
- Strong knowledge of sterilization processes and infection control
Preferred: Leadership or charge tech experience; familiarity with instrument tracking systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing and repetitive motion
