The Category Manager Variety is accountable for the commercial success of assigned variety categories.
The role owns category strategy supplier partnerships product lifecycle decisions and inventory outcomes.
You will work closely with merchandising marketing supply chain and store execution teams to ensure ranges land with impact and perform in-market.
Key accountabilities include:
Developing and executing category strategy aligned to business targets
Leading assortment planning pricing architecture and promotional cadence
Managing product lifecycle from concept through launch and exit
Driving supplier negotiations performance management and new sourcing
Analysing sales and inventory data to improve sell-through and margin
Identifying trends and translating insights into commercial actions
This role reports to senior merchandising leadership and plays a visible role in shaping range direction.
Requirements
Proven experience in category management merchandising or product leadership
Background in variety value general merchandise or fast-moving retail preferred
Strong commercial and analytical capability
Demonstrated success managing suppliers and negotiating outcomes
Ability to influence across functions without formal authority
Structured thinker who balances pace with rigour
Tertiary qualification in business marketing or related discipline
