JOB TITLE: Senior Field Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Public Works & Transportation DIVISION: Streets SALARY: $58625/YR $28.18509/HR CLOSING DATE: DEC 292025 Job Summary/Scope Supervises and schedules the daily work schedule of employees and equipment in the maintenance of streets alleys ditches and storm sewers. Direct and indirect supervision. Assists in preparing and monitoring the division department budget. Supervisory Responsibility Integral to the position of Senior Field Supervisor is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching training guiding evaluating correcting and if necessary disciplining. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Supervises the daily operations at the Street Department.
- Maintains daily crew and equipment schedules.
- Oversees the work program and the various lists and procedures associated with it.
- Maintains and updates the Snow Removal and Ice Control Program
- Conducts inspections of work in progress and makes follow-up inspections on completed work.
- Answers citizen complaints concerning streets alleys and drainage problems and determines appropriate course of action.
- Creates training materials for snow removal and ice control as well as the various maintenance and preventive maintenance programs at the street department and coordinates outside training through Human Resources.
- Must be on call and carry a Mobile pager and respond to Emergency situations as required.
- Oversees the ordering of bulk materials used by the street department and tracks deliveries.
- Maintains records for streets and sewers during emergency operations for FEMA.
Other Duties and Responsibilities PERFORMS all other related duties as assigned. Required Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Knowledge of concrete asphalt and brick construction maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of drafting and computer operations.
- Ability to understand and interpret site plans and construction drawings
- Ability to operate equipment used in the construction and maintenance of streets alleys shoulders and ditches.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
- Three to five years of prior experience required.
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement required.
- Must be available to be on-call for emergencies and/or during shift schedules.
- Skills in Microsoft Office required and knowledge of asset management software required.
Materials and Equipment Directly Used Uses a variety of office equipment including telephone personal computer fax and other related equipment. Drives light truck on daily basis. Occasionally operates heavy equipment. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical Requirements Work is performed in a variety of settings from an office environment to an outdoor setting with extreme weather conditions. Frequently stands walks bends stoops and reaches. Sit for long periods at a computer terminal. Occasional lifting of objects weighing 40 pounds and in excess of 40 pounds with assistance. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor. Associates degree in a related field preferred or three to five years prior experience or any combination of formal education and work experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
