Middle School ENL Teacher

Rochester Academy Charter School (RACS) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the English as a New Language (ENL) Teachingposition in ourMiddle School building. This is an immediate openingand it is a full-timecontractposition.

Responsiblities include

• Preparing students for the NYSESLAT test in May
• Caseload includes support with reading writing grammar and vocabulary- a foundational reading curriculum is available for this purpose
• Acting as case manager for students- communicating with students teachers and families
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Careful planning for individual students in a co-teaching setting
• Genuine care for urban students
• Small caseloads- less than 20 students most transitioning level or above
• Push in to English Language Arts and Social Studies

Requirements

Ideal candidates will possess New York State certification in English as a New Language (ENL/ESL/ TESOL).Candidates with out-of-state certification will be considered. Experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must possess a Bachelors Degree in Education or have completed a teacher certification program. We welcome candidates who are completing a degree and will become certified at a later date. Candidates are not required to be bi-lingual.
