Job Summary

Overview

NaphCare is hiring a Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor to join team of medical professionals in the Clark County Detention Centerin Las Vegas NV.

Pay rates range from $31.50- $33.25 per hour based on type of license certification site needs licensure and experience.

As a Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide support to the patients within the facility struggling with substance abuse. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex needs.

Responsibilities

The Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing counseling support and guidance to help patients understand their addiction develop coping skills and work towards recovery while preparing them for a healthier substance-free life after release. Additional responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand the patients substance abuse history severity and related issues
  • Conductweekly group substance abuse counseling sessions for patients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
  • Providing education about addiction recovery and the dangers of substance abuse
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of client progress and treatment plan
  • Working collaboratively with correctional staff and other professionals to ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients
  • Creating individualized treatment plans that address the patients specific needs goals and progress
  • Helping patients develop a comprehensive aftercare plan to ensure they have the support they need upon release from the facility

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Masters Degree in Counseling/Bachelors degree in humanities with a LCADC or CADC required or in a field of social science approved by the Board that includes comprehensive course work in clinical mental health including the diagnosis of mental health disorders;
  • Has completed a program approved by the Board consisting of at least 2000 hours of supervised postgraduate counseling of alcohol and drug abusers;
  • Has completed a program approved by the Board; and consists of at least 2000 hours of postgraduate counseling of persons with mental illness who are also alcohol and drug abusers that is supervised by a person professionally qualified in the field of psychiatric mental health and who is approved by the Board;
  • Is over 21 years of age; a citizen of the United States or is lawfully entitled to remain and work in the United States

Or is:

  • Licensed as a clinical social worker pursuant to chapter 641B of NRS;
  • Licensed as a marriage and family therapist pursuant to chapter 641A of NRS; or
  • A nurse who is licensed pursuant to chapter 632 of NRS and has received a masters degree or a doctoral degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Has completed at least 6 months of supervised counseling of alcohol and drug abusers approved by the Board;
  • Passes the written and oral examinations prescribed by the Board pursuant to NRS 641C.290;
  • Pays the fees required pursuant to NRS 641C.470; and
  • Submits all the information required to complete an application for a license.
  • Integrity professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies procedures and legal requirements
  • Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Must pass the facilitys criminal background check and drug screening

Working Conditions:

Must have the physical and mental capacity to work in an environment that may be less than pristine as well as manage and maintain physical and mental health when encountering stressful situations.
