Job Description

The ITR Engineer will act as the technical focal point for Conversions Modification and and Uprates (CM&Us) Services projects throughout the lifecycle starting from customer inquiry through outage the application engineering capacity before a customer order is received the ITR Engineer will develop technical solutions for Conversions Modifications and Uprates (CM&Us) such as stator and rotor rewinds replacement fields and other upgrades. The application engineer is the key technical stakeholder for sales opportunities. The ITR Engineer will generate technically convincing proposals to meeting customer expectations by interfacing actively with Engineering Supply Chain Field and Fleet Services Sales and Project management.

In the requisition engineering capacity after the customer order is received the ITR Engineer will provide accurate and timely overall technical project management of Generator CMU (conversions modifications and upgrades) projects which meet GE design and experience in support of services activities while achieving leadership in reliability and customer service. To succeed the ITR engineer must interact actively with other teams such as Design Engineering Sales Project Management Field Services and Supply chain.

Roles and Responsibilities

ITO

  • Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration performance estimation economics etc.) as part of the ITO (Inquiry to Order) process while interfacing with the commercial and sales teams. This includes a technical analysis of client need: definition and optimization of the products; scope; schedule; industrial scheme; cost considering contract and internal policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for interpreting customer needs and defining the parts scope of supply the electromagnetic performance design/calculations and input for cost and cycle for assigned technical proposals
  • Perform engineering studies for interchangeability and/or relocation as assigned.
  • Support and coordinate external customer meetings to resolve customer technical questions and issues (including clarification and exception for the bid specification).
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement activities such maintenance or development of assigned TAG (technical application guideline) codes.
  • Attend R1 calls as assigned by Technical Leader to determine customer needs and define technical scope of supply.
  • Good understanding of how work with the applications team and how to integrate with other teams in a matrixed organization and contribute to the needs of the business.
  • Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within establish procedures.

OTR

  • Responsible for successful execution of the engineering and related downstream activities for the overall CM&U order/project.
  • Utilize standardized tools and process to set up project structure within different GE systems.
  • Create and coordinate the overall engineering and drafting deliverable schedule using Enovia PLM software. Manage changes over the lifecycle of the project to ensure timely delivery to support parts delivery outage activities or other downstream work.
  • Ensure timely demand placement of parts designed and defined by engineering teams.
  • Provide appropriate solutions to developing technical issues arising during generator CM&U project.
  • Author Field Modification Instruction (FMI) documentation
  • Integrate with Project Management Engineering Manufacturing and Sourcing Vendors Service Shops and other teams as necessary to ensure a successful project.
  • Keep attention to the overall project schedule and budgeted hours. Address and correct deviations as they arise.
  • Support other team members both domestically and globally.
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to technical inquiries using technical files (such as Design Data Previous Reports etc.) personal experience/knowledge and information from other technical experts as necessary.
  • Complete project closeout activities including gathering feedback and data to support continuous improvement.
  • Support customer meetings State of the Art Conferences GE and Industry conferences when requested.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience or advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Project Engineering space comparable to a bachelors degree).
  • For US Applicants - Minimum 5 years experience in engineering or 3 years experience with a masters degree in engineering.
  • At least 2 years experience in either heavy duty gas turbine/steam turbine generator technology or equivalent.
