Role Summary:
The Cloud Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability reliability and security of our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. This includes writing Go or Python tests to spin up ephemeral infrastructure validate its configuration (e.g. verifying a bucket is private) and tear it downPolicy Enforcement:
Implement Policy-as-Code checks using Open Policy Agent (OPA) or Sentinel to ensure that all infrastructure provisioning adheres to security and compliance standards (e.g. ensuring no Security Groups open port 22 to the world) before deploymentKubernetes & Container Assurance:
Manifest Validation: Automate the validation of Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts to ensure they follow best practices (e.g. defining resource limits using liveness/readiness probes avoiding root users in containers)Cluster Conformance:
Run conformance tests (e.g. Sonobuoy) to ensure Kubernetes clusters meet CNCF standards and are configured correctly for the workloadTest Automation Frameworks & CI Integration:
Pipeline Integration: Design and maintain test automation frameworks that execute within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins GitLab CI).
Ensure that infrastructure changes automatically trigger regression testsEphemeral Environments: build automation to provision dynamic ephemeral test environments on demand for developers ensuring they match production configurations exactly
