Job Description
The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer on the AV Core Services team you will play a crucial role in integrating autonomous driving technology into millions of vehicles GM sells annually. This organizationis responsible forthe configuration execution and monitoring of our autonomous driving applications developing onboard services that orchestrate activities across distributed vehicle computers. Our systems are the first toinitiateand the last to power down enabling production fleets manufacturinglinesand R&D environments.
WhatYoullDo
Lead the design development and deployment of core platform software components for autonomous vehicles and corresponding cloud platform integrations.
Collaborate closely with product management hardware engineering and operations teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality verifiable software.
Drive KPI-driven cultureidentifyand mitigate technical risks ensuring the reliability and safety of our platform systems.
Contribute to the long-term technical roadmap and strategic planning for the evolution of on-AV platform services.
Mentor and guide senior and junior software engineers fostering their technical growth and career development.
Conduct thorough code reviews andmaintainhigh standardsof software quality and best practices.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelors orMasters degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering Robotics ora related field.
9 years of experience in software development witha significant portionfocused on complex distributedsystemsand cloud platform environments.
Proventrack recordof leading and successfully delivering large-scale technical projects.
Deepexpertisein at least one relevant domain (e.g. robotics distributed systems embedded systems cloud platform infrastructure real-time operating systems).
Strongproficiencyin C and/or Python with experience in developing production-quality software.
Excellent understanding of software engineering principles design patterns and best practices.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
Experience mentoring and leading technical teams.
What Will Give YouaCompetitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
Experience with autonomous vehicle platform technology and/or robotics (ROS & similar frameworks).
Experience with robotics middleware platforms and related concepts such as inter-process communication or logging
Experience designing software for CPU and memory-constrained environments or interfacing with hardware
Experience with safety-critical systems and functional safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262).
Compensation:The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paidin accordance withapplicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positionslocatedoutside of New York Colorado California or Washington.
The salary range for this role is $159420 to $225900. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance job level and individual performance.
