Library Trainee

About the role
Are you passionate about libraries learning and helping your community Were looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Library Trainee to join our team where you will both learn on the job and undertake a Certificate III or IV in Library & Information Services while gaining hands on experience in a dynamic library environment.
This 12-month traineeship is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in libraries or community services. You will receive on the job training across all areas of library operations while studying through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
As a Library Trainee you will work under supervision to support the delivery of high quality customer focused library services. You will gain practical experience in:
Customer service and supporting library enquiries
Digital resources and library technologies
Program and event delivery
Collection maintenance and circulation services
Library administration and workplace processes.
Youll also build professional knowledge of library ethics cultural awareness including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectivessafety inclusion and community engagement.
Criteria for the role:
The successful candidate must satisfy the entry requirements for the relevant qualification. Specific details can be found under the course listing on the TAFE website.
Strong interest and commitment to completing the Certificate III or IV in Library & Information Services.
Basic literacy numeracy and computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Interested in undertaking further education and pursuing a career in libraries or community services
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
Desirable
Successful completion of Certificate II or III in Libraries and Information services.
Current WA Drivers Licence
