Job Summary

Are you passionate about Para sport and driven to make a difference in Paralympic athlete development Paralympics Australia (PA) are looking for a Classification Specialist Digital and Data Solutions to join our dynamic team on a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2026.

The Role

The Classification Specialist Digital and Data Solutions reports to the Classification Lead System Support and will work with three other Specialist positions to implement classification solutions that create efficiencies and optimise outcomes across multiple sports.

This role leads the implementation of innovative digital solutions aimed at streamlining Classification processes improving operational efficiencies in delivering Classification managing Classification data and enhancing the overall Classification experience for athletes and stakeholders. The Classification Specialist will manage the relationship between the between the Australian National Classification Program (ANCP) the PA Sport Data Intelligence Team and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Sport Intelligence and Analytics team to collectively design and deliver an optimised digital environment to support the goals of the ANCP.

This role includes strong collaboration with the broader PA team sport system partners and community stakeholders to achieve objectives. The role will require occasional interstate travel and weekend work.

About You

The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of Para sport classification plus experience working with data sets and data transformation platforms. They possess excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to understand the digital and data needs of the ANCP and translate requirements into functional solutions. A proactive approach to identifying and implementing innovative solutions is essential along with the ability to analyse data insights to inform program planning.

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the Para journey which may include lived experience of classification athlete pathways and/or the sports sector in line with the outcomes of the position.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in sport science allied health information technology project management and/or a related discipline is preferable although not essential depending upon experience.
  • Knowledge of Para sport eligibility and classification processes
  • Strong analytical skills with experience managing cleaning and interpreting large datasets
  • Strong administrative and communication skills
  • The ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders to identify and define business needs and implement those needs into technical delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Self-starter who enjoys contributing positively to a team environment
  • Experience with the Smartabase Athlete Management System (AMS) and/or data visualization platforms such as Tableau Power BI or similar is preferred
  • Current Working with Childrens Check.
