A friendly and inclusive primary school in Brentford is seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January. The school prides itself on creating a welcoming environment where every pupil regardless of ability or background has the opportunity to succeed.
The school has a strong SEN provision supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) ADHD SEMH needs learning difficulties and speech and language challenges. The SEN department is experienced and well-resourced providing structured support plans and guidance for staff.
This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant passionate about making a real difference in childrens lives providing both academic and emotional support.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will support pupils with additional needs across the school. Your role will involve 1:1 support small group interventions and classroom assistance ensuring that pupils are fully included in learning activities. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement strategies and ensure pupils make progress academically and socially.
You will also play a key role in supporting pupils emotional wellbeing helping them to build confidence independence and resilience. Your support will be essential in enabling pupils to engage with the curriculum and school life fully.
Provide targeted 1:1 and small group SEN support
Assist pupils with ASD ADHD SEMH and communication difficulties
Support classroom learning including differentiated tasks
Encourage independence confidence and positive behaviour
Implement strategies from EHCPs and SEN support plans
Collaborate closely with teachers SENCO and support staff
Assist during break lunch and transition periods
Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
The ideal candidate will:
Have previous experience supporting SEN pupils in a primary school
Be patient empathetic and adaptable
Be confident in managing behaviour and supporting emotional needs
Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
Be committed to inclusion safeguarding and child wellbeing
