Position Overview:

Join Finning and play a key role in managing complex power & energy projects!

As a Project Manager youll be responsible for planning coordinating and overseeing power & energy construction projects from inception to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time within scope and within budget while maintaining adherence to contract requirements safety and company requirements.

Job Description:

  • Lead the initiation planning execution monitoring and closing of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understand and effectively use project management systems and strong disciplined project management practices to achieve positive scope schedule quality and cost results and manage and mitigate risks on each project.
  • Effectively communicate and engage with all stakeholders focusing on driving project engagement and ensure delivery is in alignment with business goals.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead effectively through ambiguity by bringing structure clarity and direction to complex evolving initiatives.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and foster strong relationships to support project success.
  • Coordinate diverse project teams including internal staff and outsourced resources to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Lead and manage project teams providing guidance coaching and support to ensure high performance.
  • Support and contribute to departmental continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing processes efficiency and overall project management maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of construction projects from start to finish.
  • Coordinate with design teams contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Develop detailed project plans timelines and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with clients engineers suppliers and subcontractors to ensure design and execution alignment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients utilities and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide regular progress updates and manage expectations effectively.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets including material labor and equipment costs.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures.
  • Lead project teams and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Resolve conflicts and ensure smooth collaboration among all parties.
  • Ensure adherence to contract requirements safety and company requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Manage change orders and unforeseen challenges effectively.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project activities.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field; certifications in Project Management (PMP or equivalent) are an asset.
  • Relevant trades experience in Industrial Electrical Instrumentation Heavy Duty Mechanic or steel fabrication experience are an asset.
  • 3 years of experience in project management managing construction projects with a focus on business improvement and change management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Training in Process Management Change Management Quality Management
  • Strong organizational analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities including facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority and manage ambiguity effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel PowerPoint Project and Visio.
  • Consulting experience and familiarity with Caterpillar or dealer organizations are considered assets.

Important:

  • This position is based out of our Calgary location.
  • Temporary full-time role.
  • 6-month project duration with possibility for extension.
  • Monday Friday 5x2 schedule.
