Why This Role Is Important
This role will support the product line by maintaining and extending a mature codebase that is central to customer delivery. This role ensures the application remains stable secure and scalable while also helping modernize the product tech stack as we move toward a more unified platform. The engineer will work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to execute roadmap work support day to day needs and reduce technical debt. Reporting to the VP of Engineering this position plays an important part in keeping the product moving forward. Strong Rails expertise is essential because this codebase powers key operational workflows. Your work will help stabilize the product improve performance and guide the transition toward more modern patterns and architecture.
What Success Looks Like
- Code is clean maintainable and consistent with Rails best practices.
- Features and enhancements are delivered on time with high reliability.
- Support issues are resolved quickly with improvements that prevent repeat problems.
- Technical debt is reduced making the system easier to maintain and evolve Engineering and product partners have clear plans and predictable delivery.
What You Will Do
- Develop maintain and improve Ruby on Rails applications that support core workflows.
- Work across the stack including models controllers services background jobs and APIs.
- Support daily production needs and troubleshoot issues in partnership with other teams.
- Refactor legacy code and help modernize the product tech stack through improved architecture updated patterns and better-quality practices.
- Implement new features enhancements and integrations based on product requirements.
- Write automated tests to ensure stability and reduce regressions.
- Participate in code reviews and help raise engineering standards across the product line.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 7 years of experience with Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem or similar background job frameworks.
- Experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
- Comfortable working in and improving a mature existing codebase.
- Understanding secure development practices performance tuning and refactoring.
- Ability to collaborate in an agile environment with clear communication.
- A mindset focused on problem solving learning and improving the system over time.
