JOB PURPOSE:

The position will provide design engineering support for Air system components design/development on 7 to 18 Lit size engines. The position will be located in Chennai. Focus of the assignment contribute to the design and development of Air system components particularly Heat Shields & Soft Wraps and Interact with a global team of industry experts and contribute to the delivery of design projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop Engine Air System components particularly heat shields & Soft wraps to meet performance and durability goals
  • Collaborate with SMEs tech leads and suppliers to define requirements and drive component development
  • Perform design calculations support DFMEA and create validation plans for NPI programs
  • Coordinate simulation and validation activities; review results and communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Ensure manufacturability provide technical support to quality and purchasing and manage supplier interactions
  • Conduct design reviews and maintain products for Continuous Product Improvement (CPI)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires an accredited Mechanical Engineering degree
  • 7 years of combined experience in Component and System Development for Diesel Engines and 5 years of experience in Heat shields/wraps
  • Expert in ProE Creo & Teamcenter PLM software
  • Knowledge of NPI process desired

Skill Sets/Competencies (Must to have)

  • Strong knowledge of engine air system components especially heat shields and wraps
  • Proficient in 3D modeling (castings sheet metal) and advanced surfacing in CREO
  • Experience with PLM tools (Teamcenter or equivalent)
  • Ability to develop concept designs independently
  • Excellent communication collaboration and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal casting machining finishing heat treatment)
  • Familiarity with simulation tools (stress analysis heat transfer TMF CFD)
  • Skills in data analysis regression and problem-solving
  • Knowledge of GD&T application based on functional requirements
  • Capability to manage and delegate design tasks and review team outputs

TOP CANDIDATES will have:

  • 5 years of Engine Air system components design/development experience working with global / regional teams
  • Experience in working with regional / global suppliers for the development of heat shields/wraps
  • Good knowledge of cross functional roles in domains such as Manufacturing Purchasing Quality related to engines
  • Familiar with Engine Air system component validation and failure analysis.
