About this opportunity

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse in Charge to join our Care team at ourMoran Sylvania home.

Shift schedule: 14:15pm to 22:30pm - Monday to Friday

Reporting to the Care Manager the Registered Nurse in Charge (RNIC) takes charge of the frontline management of the facility during their shift. This is a delegated remunerated position with critical responsibilities in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care and services to residents

If you are a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse in Charge with the passion to improve our residents daily life this role is for you.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the facility during your shift ensuring that all care and services (including lifestyle food laundry cleaning and maintenance) are delivered as planned.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the escalation of any issues or concerns during your shift.
  • In the event of an emergency assume the role of Emergency Coordinator until authorities arrive including managing the fire panel.
  • Ensure that staff are present and performing their roles effectively. Handle staff reallocation and replacement as needed.
  • Managing the daily roster reassigning staff to different locations or duties based on occupancy levels and resident requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to MHCG Policy aged care legislative requirements (e.g. SIRS Restrictive Practice) and escalation processes.
  • Be readily accessible to residents relatives staff and other stakeholders for assistance and guidance.
  • Work from the designated RNIC Nurse Station to ensure visibility and accessibility.

Skills/Requirements:

  • At least 2-3 years of Aged Care clinical experience.
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Aged Care legislative requirements and escalation processes.
  • Strong management and knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards
  • Ability to manage emergency situations and manage high-pressure situation effectively.
  • Experience in staff management and care coordination in Aged Care setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent and demonstrated verbal written and people-oriented communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer and technology efficiently.
  • Current police check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current influenza vaccination
  • Must have unlimited work rights in Australia
