With a team of 200 and rapidly expanding we are looking for an experienced Director of Compliance to lead the design execution and continuous improvement of our corporate compliance program across all states where we this role you will be responsible for safeguarding regulatory integrity ensuring adherence to federal and state laws and supporting safe ethical and scalable growth of our telehealth psychiatry operations.



Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Oversee Compliance Program: Design implement and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework aligned with HIPAA HITECH state telehealth parity laws DEA controlled substance regulations (including Ryan Haight Act compliance) and federal guidelines from CMS ONC and FTC. Regularly update policies to address evolving telehealth flexibilities (e.g. post-2025 Medicare waivers).
  • Risk Assessment and Auditing: Conduct ongoing risk assessments for multi-state operations including state-specific licensing for providers cross-border prescribing rules and data privacy in virtual platforms. Lead internal audits mock inspections and corrective action plans to identify and resolve potential vulnerabilities.
  • Regulatory Monitoring and Advocacy: Stay abreast of regulatory changes across 30 states (e.g. audio-only visit permissions e-prescribing mandates) and federal updates. Provide strategic guidance on compliance implications for product launches partnerships and clinical protocols; represent the company in regulatory filings or inquiries.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver targeted training programs for clinical staff (psychiatrists therapists) operations and leadership on compliance topics like patient consent in telehealth fraud/abuse prevention (e.g. Stark Law Anti-Kickback Statute) and ethical AI use in psychiatry tools.
  • Incident Management and Reporting: Investigate compliance incidents breaches or complaints; coordinate with legal counsel on resolutions. Oversee reporting to regulatory bodies (e.g. OCR for HIPAA breaches) and maintain a retaliation-free hotline for internal reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with clinical tech and growth teams to embed compliance into workflows such as provider credentialing telehealth platform security and reimbursement processes. Support due diligence for potential funding rounds or acquisitions.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Track key compliance KPIs (e.g. audit findings training completion rates) and provide quarterly reports to the board and executives highlighting risks achievements and recommendations for scaling.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors degree required (in healthcare administration law business or related field); JD Masters in Health Administration (MHA) or Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 8 years in healthcare compliance with at least 4 years in a leadership role. Proven track record in telehealth behavioral health or multi-state regulated environments; experience in psychiatry or mental health services is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of HIPAA state telehealth laws DEA regulations and reimbursement compliance (e.g. CPT coding for virtual visits). Proficiency with compliance software (e.g. NAVEX MedTrainer) and data analytics tools for risk monitoring.
  • Soft Skills: Strategic thinker with excellent communication and influence skills; ability to translate complex regulations into actionable business advice. High integrity detail-oriented and adaptable to startup pace.
  • Other: Willingness to obtain or maintain certifications (e.g. CHC CCEP) if not already held. U.S. work authorization required.
