Job Summary

Position Summary: Exempt position responsible for the growth and management of the distribution and transmission construction aspect of the Western division within the customer. This position will manage a portion of the Western supervision and ensure a productive workforce that supports all divisional departmental site and corporate goals while in accordance with all company policies and local state and federal regulations. The Operations Vice President will direct the work and provide technical assistance to subordinates assigned to assist him/her and craft employees working under lump sum unit price and hourly price contracts. This position requires a minimum 15 years of continuous experience. The Operations Vice President will focus on client development but will participate in job estimation as needed and work with the Area Supervisor may be needed to attend pre-bid meetings and to conduct client pre-construction meetings. This is a supervisory position. This qualified individual will possess the skills to schedule and oversee various work groups and should possess the drive and ambition to grow this division to a profitable and sizable unit within the customer Corp.

Essential Functions:

  • Client Development in the Western division.
  • Work closely with Area Supervisor(s) to ensure proper oversight of field crews including safely performing new construction maintenance or repair testing adjusting and troubleshooting work
  • Ability to obtain licenses and permits required for work
  • All aspects of contract negotiation bidding estimating change order identification submittal and approval administration and establishing the means to execute the contract to include management of subcontractors and material procurement.
  • Effective change control and risk management processes.
  • Thorough estimates and proposals for site specific projects and master service agreements.
  • Accurate monthly financial reporting with adequate backup for management internal and external accounting.
  • Effective financial controls to ensure profitability and expected cash flow on all projects and master service agreements.
  • Direct the work and provide technical assistance to subordinates assigned to assist him/her and craft employees working under lump sum unit price and hourly price contracts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in construction management or related field.
  • A minimum 15 years experience in construction/project management.
  • Willing to work over-time or long hours during emergency conditions and/or when requested. Schedules can change frequently and with short notice.
  • Up to 50% travel required.
  • Capable of following Company safety rules and policies.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of construction standard practices techniques quality requirements applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to administer coaching mentoring and performance management.
  • Ability to develop and interpret a material list bid packages scope documents schedules and budgets required in work performance.
  • Proficient knowledge in all aspects of electrical distribution and transmission systems.
  • Knowledge of various types of construction contracts.
  • Perform employee evaluations.
  • Interview hire and terminate employees
  • Ability to interface with contractors designers vendors and other parties connected with the various project(s).
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel preferred.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
