AWS Data Engineer

Location: Chicago IL (Local Candidates Only)
Hybrid - 2 3 days onsite per week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer with strong expertise in building and optimizing data architectures in the AWS cloud. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS Data Lake Redshift and Aurora along with strong data integration ETL/ELT design and cloud-native development skills.

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain AWS-based data pipelines for large-scale data ingestion transformation and delivery.
Build and optimize Data Lake architectures using S3 Glue Lambda and related services.
Develop and maintain Redshift data warehouses including schema design performance tuning and workload management.
Integrate data from various sources into Aurora and support downstream applications.
Implement scalable secure and cost-efficient cloud data solutions.
Collaborate with analytics engineering and business teams to define data requirements and deliver high-quality datasets.
Ensure data quality governance and security best practices across the data platform.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex data pipeline and integration issues.

Required Skills & Experience

10 years of experience as a Data Engineer with at least 7 years working on AWS.
Strong hands-on experience with:
- AWS S3 Glue Lambda Step Functions
- Redshift (including SQL performance tuning and ETL/ELT)
- Aurora (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
- IAM CloudWatch KMS networking basics
Proficiency in Python SQL and distributed data processing techniques.
Experience building CI/CD pipelines for data workflows (CodePipeline GitHub Actions etc.).
Strong understanding of data modeling data warehousing and streaming concepts.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a hybrid collaborative environment.
