Background Information
Ontario Healths Health Workforce Strategy and Implementation team will be developing and implementing a new suite of nursing programs funded by the Ministry of Long-Term Care. Two new project managers will support the recruitment and retention of nurses in Ontarios Long-Term Care sector. The resources will support the effective launch and implementation of the new programs including communications with internal and external stakeholders operations tracking and reporting project milestones.
Must haves:
- Masters degree preferred or Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline (health social sciences political sciences or another relevant field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7 years of relevant experience in non-profit healthcare and/or government sector.
- Experience managing projects in a leadership role.
Responsibilities:
- Provides project management on large scale complex high profile and high-risk projects for Ontario Health initiatives.
- Gathers and develops requirements in order to create and maintain a detailed project schedule and/or integrated plan.
- Develops and presents material both internally and to external stakeholders on Health Human Resources (HHR) programs using excellent written verbal and graphical communications skills with ability to express complex concepts effectively.
- Communicates with external stakeholders about project participation advises on guidelines and eligibility criteria and works collaboratively with the project team to ensure a smooth stakeholder experience.
- Oversee operational tasks and workflow for assigned health workforce projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrates exceptional tactical and critical strategic thinking to keep projects effective and impactful when faced with changing circumstances such as program priority or funding changes.
- Work closely with high level internal and external stakeholders to problem solve and negotiate to meet needs and demands.
Desired Skills:
- Strong understanding of Project Management principles
- Advanced proficiency with Salesforce (or similar) CRM System
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite applications (Project PowerPoint Excel and Word)
- Proficient at proactively identifying risks and issues and developing tactics and solutions to maintain required project timelines
- Experience managing and coordinating project monitoring anticipates and troubleshoots issues provides ongoing expertise resolves problems and provides project effectiveness
- Broad knowledge of the Ontario healthcare system and the various stakeholders and actors; understands the changing Healthcare environment with all its complexities
- Ability to handle client relationships to manage expectations provides updates as required identifies potential conflicts between project and functional areas
- Experience working in a health human resources-related role including understanding of both health professional and healthcare organizational perspectives.
- PMP certification is strongly preferred

Deliverables Include but are not limited to:
- Support the effective launch and implementation of several Health Human Resources (HHR) incentive programs including (but not limited to) establishing application communication and intake materials and processes targeting eligible stakeholders who may opt to participate in the programs.
- Support direct communications with external stakeholders about initiatives.
- Ensure project deliverables are tracked and coordinated daily work is managed and performance is monitored through regular reporting.
- Assisting the Manager in meeting urgent timelines through operational support and leadership.
Knowledge Transfer Details:
- The resource will ensure full knowledge transfer is provided to the Ontario Health team before end of engagement. Some of this might occur at the end of the engagement but will also be shared as information is obtained/consolidated. Key deliverables will be shared with team.
- The resource must provide all related documentation as part of knowledge transfer protocol. Documents will be reviewed by the appropriate leads and signed off by manager/director.
- The resource will work collaboratively with the Ontario Health team throughout the assignment and ensure key deliverables milestones and documentation are shared.
- A walkthrough of any demos development etc. will be required before the end of the engagement.
