Classification Lead – National Sporting Organisation Support

Are you passionate about Para sport and driven to make a difference in Paralympic athlete development Paralympics Australia (PA) are looking for a Classification Lead NSO Support to join our dynamic team on a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2026.

About Classification

Classification is the cornerstone of the Paralympic Movement and is a key process in supporting entry into the Paralympic pathway. It determines which athletes are eligible to compete in a Para-sport and how athletes are grouped together for competition. Classification aims to minimise the impact of the impairment on athletes performance so that sporting excellence determines which athlete or team is ultimately victorious. Ensuring that athletes are classified prior to competing is crucial to safeguarding the integrity and credibility of the competition.

About the Role

As one of two Classification Leads NSO Support you will work alongside our current Classification Lead NSO Support to oversee and manage a team of Classification Specialists. This role is central to strengthening the classification process within National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) by promoting best practices improving accessibility and upholding the integrity of classification systems in line with international standards.

In this role you will:

• Lead and coordinate a team of Classification Specialists to support NSOs.
• Develop and implement best practice strategies policies and processes for classification.
• Enhance awareness and understanding of classification across Australian sport.
• Foster collaboration within the classification network and improve efficiency.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with professionalism and strategic insight.

This position will require occasional interstate travel and some weekend work.

About You

You are a passionate people leader who thrives on supporting a team to contribute to organisational goals while achieving individual professional growth. You understand the power of sport to drive social change and are passionate about creating equitable opportunities for athletes. You will bring:

• Ability to manage inspire and support a high-performing team.
• Background in allied health sport science or sport management.
• Strong understanding of Para sport classification and the Australian sport system.
• Skilled in translating strategic objectives into impactful actions.
• Knowledge of health conditions and impairment types eligible for Para-sport.
• Highly organised with strong administrative and project management skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Qualifications in allied health sport management and/or sport science is preferable although not essential depending upon experience.
• A combination of education career and lived experience will also be considered
• Working with Childrens Check.
