St Hildas School Gold Coast invites applications for the part time position of Senior People and Culture Officer commencing 02 February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the Position

The Senior People and Culture Officer plays a vital role in supporting the Schools workforce by delivering high-quality human resource services across recruitment onboarding employee relations compliance staff development and engagement. With impeccable attention to detail and an exemplary people-focused approach this position ensures all human resources administrative functions are completed with rigorous accuracy and in full compliance with legal regulatory and policy obligations.

Reporting to the People and Culture Manager and working alongside the People and Culture Officer the Senior People and Culture Officer will demonstrate a deep understanding of legislation Enterprise Agreements and Awards advanced critical thinking capabilities and a proactive approach to people and culture within the School. Return to work case management and flexible work agreements along with internal compilation of reports will be part of the delegated expectations of this role.

This position requires a genuine and detail-oriented professional able to provide accurate and confidential advice to staff and stay ahead of legislative changes supporting the People and Culture Manager to deliver best-practice human resource standards.

Selection Criteria:

1. Technical Expertise and Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards
  • Proven experience managing injury/illness cases and coordinating rehabilitation processes in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle recruitment processes including advertising candidate management interviewing reference checking and onboarding
  • Proficiency in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Ability to draft and prepare employment contracts letters and official HR documentation with accuracy
  • Minimum intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

2. Problem Solving and Initiative

  • Demonstrated capacity to lead process improvement and change initiatives especially in regard to human resource systems and functions
  • Advanced critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to interpret legislation and apply it to workplace situations
  • Proactive approach to identifying issues and developing solutions
  • Ability to manage competing priorities meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.

3. Interpersonal and Communication Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear advice on human resource matters
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with staff at all levels while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
  • Genuine care for people and commitment to fostering an inclusive supportive workplace culture
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion diplomacy impartiality and integrity
  • Strong customer service orientation with a genuine commitment to supporting employee wellbeing.

4. Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary or Diploma qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience preferably in the education sector.
