Under general direction the Custodial Services Manger assists the Custodial Services Director in managing the operations of the general services units and in that managers absence has full responsibility for coordinating and implementing program planning and defining the organizational direction of the Airports Custodial Window Cleaning and Food Services Unit as well as determining staffing needs resource allocation and recognizing future resource needs. This position must plan projects evaluate programs write reports assist Custodial Services Director with staffing and budget projections and monitor expenditures for general services operations. This position interfaces with all managerial levels within the Airport other City departments as well as outside agencies and represents the Custodial Service Section in meetings involving policies procedures and administrative systems. This position also performs other duties as required.

- Assist in the identification development and implementation of goals objectives and policies related to general customer service operations; direct the allocation of resources to meet goals within budgetary confines and adjust operational plans to meet new operation duties while continuing to address defined goals.
- Review specifications for proposed construction or improvements and make recommendations which will facilitate the maintenance and improve the appearance safety and sustainability of those facilities and accommodate the public.
- Conduct routine inspections of service areas for quality assurance and compliance with safety and sustainability standards.
- Collaborate with other Airport sections and City & County departments to support coordinated service delivery; assist in resolving operational issues that affect custodial services.
- Support planning efforts by implementing operational procedures and service improvements in alignment with broader organizational goals; help identify resource needs and adjust staff deployment accordingly.
- Review and submit requisitions for custodial supplies and equipment; ensure appropriate inventory levels and cost controls are maintained.
- Assist Custodial Director in drafting memo correspondence to communicate custodial performance staffing updates and service concerns to management staff and service contractors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Nature of Work
Position requires physical effort including frequent walking and standing of 3 to 6 hours a day; ability to use computer on occasional basis to create reports memos and to prepare other documents. Employees will be required to work the day swing and/or graveyard shift weekends holidays and overtime.
Qualifications :
- Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Three (3) years of verifiable professional experience working in custodial services units or a related field.
- License and Certification: Possession of a valid California (Class C) driver license.
Education Substitution:
Additional work experience as described above may fully substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis for up to 4 years. One year of experience is equal to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.
Desirable Qualification:
- Experience in training and instituting a program of sustainable/environmental practices for cleaning professionals.
- Work experience in contracts budgeting labor relations timekeeping monitoring timesheets and tracking vacation holiday records as the supervisor/manager in charge of an operational section or charged with janitorial operations in large public facilities.
- Experience in purchasing janitorial and/or facilities equipment and supplies for a large janitorial food service or window cleaning operational unit.
- Experience with administering or assisting in the administration of multiple multi-million-dollar operation budget.
- Managerial or supervisory experience working in an operational unit with several hundred custodial window cleaning and/or food service employees.
- Experience working in an operational unit where you were required to prepare and serve disciplinary documents recommending suspension or termination of an employees tenure.
