The Opportunity
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) is part of Abbotts Diagnostics family of businesses bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies. The position of Sample Handler is within Toxicology located at Gretna LA at Alere Toxicology this role the individual will be responsible for removing presumptive positives samples and aliquoting samples for confirmation in accordance with the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations.
What Youll Work On
Remove presumptive positives aliquot for confirmation arrange aliquots in order
Store positive samples in refrigerator/freezer area
Remove positives samples from freezer for re-aliquots
Receive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis
Review and document acceptability of specimen and chain of custody forms
Destroy specimens as needed
Clean and maintain work area daily
Adhere to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information
Must comply with company policy
Required Qualifications
High School education
Preferred Qualifications
Basic ability to use a computer
Basic ability to understand laboratory technique and procedures
Advanced ability to understand certification requirements for SAMSHA CAP-PUDT and other relevant regulatory bodies
Basic ability to understand the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systems
Work Environment
Climate-controlled office and testing laboratory environment
Ability to handle urine
May be potential exposure to toxic or hazardous material

$13.25 $26.55/hourIn specific locations the pay range may vary from the range posted.
