Job Overview

Tekberry is seeking a Drafting / CAD Technician II Additive Manufacturing & XR Lab Specialist to support our client a global leader in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies at their Wilmington NC facility.

This hands-on technical role supports the operation of a Digital Fabrication & XR Lab including additive manufacturing (3D printing) optical scanning and XR/VR design review environments. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined tech-savvy and comfortable supporting engineers and cross-functional teams through lab operations training documentation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing

Operate monitor and maintain a multi-printer Bambu 3D printer fleet including setup calibration routine and advanced maintenance and firmware updates.
Execute print jobs on behalf of engineering teams; prioritize requests and manage print queues to meet deadlines.
Train users on proper printing workflows including model preparation slicing material selection bed preparation and post-processing.
Track filament and consumables inventory maintain usage logs and support cost tracking.
Maintain print quality standards through test prints preventive maintenance and issue tracking.

Optical Scanning

Operate and maintain a Keyence optical scanner including calibration lens care and software updates.
Perform part scanning and generate inspection and measurement data.
Assist users with scan setup interpretation of results and safe operation.

XR / VR Lab Support

Maintain HTC Vive PC-tethered systems and high-performance workstations including hardware updates and room calibration.
Support Autodesk VRED sessions for full-scale design reviews.
Configure and support Meta Quest 3 headsets for Autodesk XR experiences.
Manage XR equipment inventory accessories cleaning procedures and check-in/check-out processes.

Design Reviews Safety & Administration

Facilitate cross-functional design review sessions including scheduling setup and capturing action items.
Serve as lab safety lead enforcing PPE requirements SOPs and access controls.
Create and maintain SOPs quick-start guides and troubleshooting documentation.
Track lab KPIs such as printer uptime queue times and training completion.

Additional Support

Assist with drone scanning activities including equipment preparation and basic data handoff.
Coordinate vendor support and collaborate with IT and EHS teams as needed.

Must-Have Qualifications

Associate degree (AAS/AS/AOS) in Drafting CAD Engineering Technology or a related field.
Hands-on experience with FDM/FFF 3D printers including setup slicing maintenance and troubleshooting.
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with technical equipment.
Ability to train users and provide customer-focused technical support.
Working knowledge of Windows workstations and basic networking concepts.
Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and understand tolerances.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Bambu X or P Series printers Bambu Studio or Bambu Farm Manager.
Experience supporting design reviews using Autodesk VRED.
Familiarity with Keyence optical or vision measurement systems.
Exposure to Autodesk XR workflows and Meta Quest devices.
Basic experience with photogrammetry or point-cloud tools.

Work Environment

100% onsite role in Wilmington NC.
Combination of desk-based technical work and hands-on lab activity.
Periods of standing walking bending and lifting (up to 40 lbs).
Occasional early or late hours to support critical print runs or design reviews.
