We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development Family Support Job Training & Employment Support Services Health Housing and Legal Services. We reach almost 80000 individuals and families including almost 13000 serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

Program Overview

CAMBAs comprehensive Workforce Development and Refugee Services programs annually provide thousands of low-income community members with culturally competent case management employment education vocational training benefits access health financial literacy and English language services in house and by referral. CAMBA specializes in assisting those with special barriers to employment including low skilled workers long-term unemployed immigrants and refugees limited English speakers formerly homeless seniors formerly incarcerated trauma survivors and victims of human trafficking. These programs are performance-based and success is measured by meeting enrollment employment placement training retention and case management goals.

Position: Resettlement Coordinator

Reports To: Supervisor I or Program Manager

Location: 2244 Church Avenue Brooklyn NY 11226

What The Resettlement Coordinator Does:

The person filling this position is expected under general supervision to) assist clients in eliminating barriers to self-sufficiency by assessing their aspirations and strengths advising coaching and persuading them of the features and advantages of CAMBAs services making appropriate referrals to services and assisting clients to navigate and engage with those services aligning with their service plan and programmatic goals; including the following:

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
  • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
  • Comply with any and all Federal State City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
  • Understand all aspects multiple ever-evolving contracts and the requirements and services definitions for each.
  • Conduct initial intake and assessment of clients and/or clients families situations and needs including skill levels prior work experience employability interests aptitudes support service needs family and medical history and individual development needs.
  • Refer and enroll clients to the program/programs according to the outcome of the intake process.
  • Advise clients regarding realistic career/employment goals and the education/training necessary to attain them. Work with clients to develop realistic educational/employment goals leading to self-sufficiency.
  • In collaboration with clients prepare Individual self-sufficiency employment Plan for each client identifying employment goal interim achievement objectives and services
  • Develop strategies with clients regarding how to break through barriers to their short and long-term goals overcoming resistance to change and how to advocate for themselves.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of instructors and job developers with the common goal of successfully advancing participants to employment
  • Maintain professional relationships and confidentiality with clients.
  • Input client data and client progress/service information into automated database.
  • Create and maintain client files with detailed records of services provided/financial records as directed and required by CAMBA the Department of State and Funders.
  • Collect and submit all documentation regarding client and contract outcomes.
  • Plan and facilitate orientations assessments and progress during the course of the program(s).
  • Analyze results of education/career assessment instruments.
  • Review results and analyses with clients.
  • Facilitate clients development of such skills as problem-solving decision-making etc.
  • Administer evaluation tests and/or assessment instruments.
  • Recommend and implement strategies to persuade clients to participate to the fullest extent in their own education/employment placement and retention process.
  • Develop new materials and methods of outreach in response to changing program and client needs.
  • Act as client liaison/client advocate both within CAMBA and/or with outside organizations immigration attorneys and other referral sources regarding such matters as education healthcare housing legal issues new enrollments and client assessments etc.
  • May facilitate group workshops/peer support groups regarding all relevant topics.
  • May administer evaluation tests and/or assessment instruments.
  • May monitor client progress in classroom and address negative behavior patterns (e.g. lateness).
  • May participate in marketing/outreach/assessment activities for various programs.
  • May assist clients and/or their families in completing applications for government programs and in processing these applications with appropriate agencies.
  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
  • Tasks may be modified expanded and/or assigned over a period of time.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree (B.A. B.S.W.) and/or equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Client-focused culturally competent high energy empathetic flexible and hard-working a must.
  • Familiarity with NYC public benefits eligibility and access preferred.
  • Ability to adapt approach to meet the varied needs of job seekers and community partners including in person meetings and the use of Zoom and other online platforms and resources on camera to accommodate providing services remotely.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a fast paced high volume schedule with tact and good humor.
  • Demonstrated ability and dedication to work with refugees asylees immigrants young adults and low income populations is a plus.
  • Bilingual required in Creole Ukrainian Farsi/ Dari Spanish French Russian Arabic or Mandarin (prioritized according to current program needs).

Compensation: $55000 -$57000 annually
When salary ranges are listed the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and includes but is not limited to experience education budget and/or program size internal equity skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
