Job Summary
Job Title: Senior Java Engineer (Payments / SWIFT)
Location: Dublin Ireland (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Role
Our client a well-established organization in the financial services and payments domain is seeking an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join their engineering team in Dublin.
This role is ideal for professionals with strong Java backend expertise and hands-on SWIFT integration experience particularly within cross-border payment systems. Candidates based across Europe or the UK holding a valid European or British passport are encouraged to apply and must be willing to relocate to Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop payment processing services with a focus on SWIFT MT/MX message flows.
Configure and manage SWIFT endpoints connectivity and integration layers.
Build robust and scalable Java-based microservices using Spring Boot and Hibernate.
Implement CQRS and event-driven components using AXON SDK.
Collaborate with product architecture and compliance teams to enhance cross-border payment capabilities.
Participate in code reviews technical design sessions and system performance optimization.
Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to platform stability and resilience initiatives.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience as a backend Java engineer.
Advanced proficiency in Java Spring Boot Hibernate and Maven.
Mandatory: Hands-on experience with SWIFT integration including endpoint configuration and message flow setup.
Solid understanding of cross-border payment processing settlement and regulatory compliance.
Working knowledge of ISO 20022 (MX) and SWIFT MT messaging standards.
Preferred Skills
Experience with AXON SDK for event sourcing and CQRS.
Familiarity with Synapse Prism or similar integration frameworks.
Exposure to cloud-native architectures Docker and Kubernetes.
Prior experience working within financial services or payments platforms
