Job Summary

Subject to formal establishment a vacancy will arise for an Operational Support Sub-Portfolio Leader within the Permanent Joint Headquarters Northwood on Full Time Reserve Service (Home Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS) with an anticipated proposed start date of 1 March 2026.

Task Requirements: As the Sub-Portfolio Leader you will oversee a budget of over 35M covering goods and services in the Broader Middle East and Africa. This role serves as a crucial link providing capability delivery information to an assurance team whilst proposing recommendations for new Operational Support capability enhancements. You will have the freedom to design and implement Operational requirements promptly and creatively through the business case process. This is an exciting role requiring visits to operational areas to enhance capabilities on a significant scale whilst collaborating closely with financial experts to ensure Defence receives value for money.

Responsibilities:

Support SO1 CSO through the day-to-day management of ACOS J1/J4/Meds Sub-Portfolio of circa 80 Operational Support Contracts worth in excess of 70M per annum.

Direct liaison with in-Theatre Commanders and their Contract and Commercial representatives to ensure continuity of service across two PJHQ Op Frameworks.

Assist the Designated Officer of the Facilities Management Contract for the Royal Navy in the Broader Middle East for all Soft Facilities Management services provision and assurance. Process Contract Change Notifications for the Facilities Management Services Overseas.

Conduct theatre visits as required to provide Contract Support to Operations Operational Support Capability Contract and Soft Facilities Management advice and assurance to the operational theatre on behalf of CJO.

Act as focal point for Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement Memorandum of Understanding Host Nation Support and Technical Advice for PJHQ.

Direct Liaison with UKStratCom Finance and Commercial Business Partners and the PJHQ Contract Portfolio Office to ensure financial and commercial propriety.

Chair a weekly Sub-Portfolio Management Group.

PJHQ coordinates and directs joint military operations involving the British Army Royal Navy Royal Air Force and it works closely with other NATO and allied military headquarters.

It plays a crucial role in ensuring that the UKs military forces are ready and able to respond to a wide range of security challenges from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to combat operations.
