Job Summary

Career and Technical Education DirectorJob SummaryThe Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director provides leadership strategic planning and oversight for all CTE programs at Johnston High School. The Director ensures programs meet Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) requirements align with industry standards support student career pathways and advance the districts mission to prepare all students for postsecondary success. This role collaborates with school and district leaders community partners and industry stakeholders to enhance program quality expand opportunities and promote equitable access to CTE ResponsibilitiesSupervision of all aspects of the CTE programming and instructional FunctionsProvide overall direction administration and evaluation of all CTE programs and career pathways at Johnston High all programs meet RIDE CTE approval criteria including curriculum alignment work-based learning requirements and programmatic reporting. Lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of CTE curricula in coordination with department chairs teachers and industry the recruitment retention and evaluation of CTE staff; provide coaching professional development and instructional and monitor CTE program budgets grants and state and federal funding compliance with state and federal regulations including RIDE CTE standards Perkins requirements and grant and submit required documentation annual performance reports and data related to student enrollment achievement credentialing and work-based adherence to district policies safety regulations and industry-specific credentialing and maintain partnerships with local businesses higher education institutions unions and community organizations to support internships apprenticeships and job work-based learning opportunities including internships job shadows community projects and industry mentoring and engage program advisory boards to provide industry guidance for each CTE CTE programs through outreach events and communication with students families and community processes for student recruitment admissions and retention in CTE the development of new CTE pathways aligned to high-demand fields and district technology industry standards and innovative instructional practices into CTE Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of RIDE CTE standards Perkins requirements and work-based learning leadership communication and organizational of modern instructional techniques and curricular concepts and program of the principles of effective management staff supervision and of applicable federal state and local laws and at dealing effectively with community members team building and establishing and maintaining effective working to plan organize assign and coordinate CTE activities of the and ExperienceBachelors degree in education career technical education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).Rhode Island administrator certification or Five (5) years of experience in education workforce development or related career pathways RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods during meetings desk work and computer to lift and carry materials equipment or supplies up to 25 be able to access and navigate all areas of the schools buildings CTE labs shops career centers and district evening or weekend events to support family engagement or professional Public Schools provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race color religion age sex national origin disability status genetics protected veteran status sexual orientation gender identity or expression or any other characteristic protected by federal state or local laws.
