Overall Purpose of the Job
- To investigate aircraft accidents and incidents independently with the objective to prevent their re-occurrence by proposing safety recommendations and prevention programmes.
Investigation Management
- Accurately collect document record and secure all evidence in accordance with AIID MOP policies and procedures.
- Applies relevant legislation regulations procedures and other requirements that guides investigation processes and their application in accident and incident investigation.
- Conducts appropriate due diligence on accident and incident investigations.
- Ensure timely dispatch to the accident/incident site to avoid loss of critical evidence and witness from engaging with each other.
- To collect supporting evidence/data analyse the evidence/data develop findings from the analysis determine cause of the accident or incident and develop safety recommendation with the aim to prevent the same/similar causes.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Review and analyse all evidence using appropriate analytical tools (event checklist and report writing template) and processes as per AIID MOP and ISO procedures.
- Conducts an in-depth analysis of problems presented during investigation processes.
- Ensure drafting and release of a quality and technically sound:
- Accident/incident notification
- Preliminary accident/incident report
- Draft and Final accident/incident report
- Ensure that all reports are captured on ECCAIRS.
- Ensure the submission of ADREP reports to ICAO for all accident involving aircraft above the MTOW of 2250kg and incidents above 5700kg as prescribed in the AIID MOP.
- Ensure that safety data recording is properly analysed and researched.
Relationship Management
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the investigation process.
- Continuously provide updates on investigation progress as per the agreed timelines.
Requirements
Minimum
- Grade 12 and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License; or Private Pilot Licence; or NQF Level 6 Engineering qualification.
Ideal
- CPL or ATPL or AMEL with licence on aircraft above 5700kg.
Experience
- 5 Years -Aircraft Maintenance Engineer OR
- 500 - 1000 hours Pilot OR
- 5 Years - Aviation Engineer OR
- 3 Years - SACAA Inspectorate
