Senior Commercial Analyst III

Primary Functions
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Credit Union in achieving its mission of being our members first choice as their partner to help them make informed financial decisions. Your role to achieve this mission will be conducting business credit analysis annual reviews tracking receipt of annual financials for commercial portfolio and maintenance of watch list and respective action plans. Ensures federal and state compliance regulations and procedures are followed within the business lending group. Assists in servicing business loan members and provides additional support services as approved and directed by the Chief Lending Officer. Through the use of technology presents commercial credit information for use by loan officers CUSOs or committees making credit and loan rating decisions on new renewal credit extensions and annual loan reviews.
Responsibilities include:
a. Reviews all pertinent credit and financial information including reporting services credit bureaus records of other financial institutions and credit union files.
b. Prepares business relationship profitability analyses for all relationships as requested.
c. Determines the need for more thorough investigation or additional information and contacts appropriate sources for such information pertinent to the loan analysis.
d. Analyzes financial statements and related materials.
e. Prepares all spreadsheets containing the needed financial information to render credit decision.
f. Prepares written narrative presents facts interprets data and provides recommendations concerning credit worthiness and risk rating.
Additional duties:
a. Completes credit analysis independently including complex transactions.
b. Train/guide level I & II analysts.
c. Assist the Credit Manager in portfolio monitoring of credit related issues such as new loan requests annual reviews servicing requests loan modifications/deferments risk rate changes etc.
- Ensures compliance with legal requirements lending regulations and internal policies and procedures.
- Reviews credit legal and collateral files for accounts being analyzed to ensure that information and documentation on file is complete reporting any difficulties to the appropriate business loan officers and management as needed.
- Obtains business and personal credit reports for commercial credit prospects and existing business members as needed for review purposes.
- Performs research on various industries using all technology sources on as needed basis to help assess the risk level of various credit requests and relationships.
- Interacts on an as needed basis with business members in order to obtain information needed to complete written analyses.
- Performs periodic Loan Review of existing portfolio in support of risk assessment.
- Assists management in preparation of various monthly and quarterly reports for the Board of Directors ALM Committee Senior Management officers and other department personnel.
- Consults with Business Service Officers & outside sources (CUSO etc) regarding the structuring of a loan.
- Attends and participates in training seminars to maintain knowledge of all Credit Union services and support cross selling initiatives to all members.
- Attends and participates in training seminars to remain up to date on compliance issues lending regulations and internal policies.
- Maintains member confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Four years of commercial analysis experience required.
- Bachelors Degree in accounting business finance or related field required.
- Five years of financial institution/loan review experience required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Must possess excellent knowledge of financial and accounting concepts (cash flows spread analysis etc.).
- Proficiency in operation of related business technologies computer programs and equipment.
- Working knowledge of A FCU policies and procedures preferred.
- Working knowledge of A FCUs in-house computer systems preferred.
- Working knowledge of compliance regulations affecting consumer and commercial lending.
