This is a part-time temporary position with no benefits. This position is grant-funded.
DEFINITION:
This position exists to function as part of the network to assist students families and schools with transportation needs of McKinney-Vento students. This position will assist the Routing Manager with the preparation of student records to allow for the implementation of transportation services to students. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Transportation Operations Supervisor and the Senior Director of Transportation.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Supports the Routing Manager with the most current student information in the Student Information System for MKV qualified students.
- Supports the division and school with communication for families on a regular basis.
- Keeps documentation via a log on the support provided to the schools.
- Enters new or updates student information into the districts Student Information System (SIS).
- Assists with providing students bus and/or rideshare information to the school for disbursement to the parent/guardian.
- Tracks and distributes rideshare No Show occurrences to the Department of Early Learning and Title I on a regular basis.
- Creates and maintains a manifest of all approved McKinney-Vento students who do and do not request transportation.
- Maintains records to show areas of improvement for McKinney-Vento reporting.
- Collaborates with the McKinney-Vento team in the Department of Early Learning and Title I.
- Attends McKinney-Vento professional development trainings and events.
- Assists in McKinney-Vento program presentations and trainings as needed.
- Alters of adds codes to McKinney-Vento student records in the Student Information System (SIS).
- Maintains student records in the transportation routing system.
- Obtains enrollment data from the schools.
- Maintains confidentiality and privacy when handling student information.
- Models non-discriminatory practices.
- Performs office duties such as filing faxing scanning etc.
- Performs any other MKV related duties as assigned by supervisors.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software and web-based platforms such as One Drive Google suite etc.
- Comprehension of pupil transportation terminology and operations.
- Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken and written words.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff parents teachers administrators and community-based organizations.
- Must possess the ability to read and prepare correspondence reports forms etc. using rules of punctuation and grammar.
- Ability to record and deliver information explain procedures and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Comfortability with the notion of learning new ways of working.
- Ability to interact effectively with multiple departments on a daily basis.
- Self-motivated and an out-of-the-box thinker.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work while being able to multi-task.
- Knowledge of state and local laws and regulations regarding pupil transportation.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
MINIMUM EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and at least two years experience with computerized software. Thorough familiarization with PC computer is essential. Some routing software experience preferred.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES HAZARDS AND DEMANDS:
- Work requires normal physical attributes required for walking standing sitting operation of office equipment lifting moving and carrying equipment and supplies. Work involves exposure to normal everyday risks in an office setting and adherance to strict deadlines.
