Job Duties:

While there may not be an immediate need for a lecturer in every area UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) accepts applications regardless in order to create a pool for when there may be a need. Upon successful submission of your application you will be considered for future part-time lecturer opportunities and your application will be on file as a potential candidate who could possibly fill a position if or when the need arises. See the UWSP Course Catalog for specific courses taught by the School of Education. Discipline areas include:

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Early Childhood Special Education
  • Elementary Education (including subject-specific teaching methods)
  • Special Education
  • Physical and Health Education
  • Education Foundations (including educational psychology classroom management and pluralism in education)
  • Educational Sustainability
  • Language and Literacy
  • Trauma-Informed Pedagogy
  • Education Research Methods

Lecturers are hired on a per-course basis each semester and teaching one semester does not guarantee being assigned the following semester. The teaching hours for a lecturer will vary with a teaching load ranging between 1-12 credits per semester.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • Facilitates classroom online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses including assessment of student performance

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned masters degree in an appropriate field
  • Evidence of successful teaching in PK-12 and/or in higher education
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated expertise and experience in the specialty area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned PhD or EdD in an appropriate field
  • Experience in collaborative and/or inclusionary settings
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success
