Internal Audit at the FCA is unique. Our division has the opportunity to get an overview of the whole organisation and to understand all aspects of how the FCA regulates financial services in the UK. The work of the division is varied; investigations are conducted across the full spectrum of the FCAs regulatory remit and operational activities that enable the FCA to operate.


Role responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support high quality internal investigations preserving confidentiality and the anonymity of the whistleblower to help to maintain trust and integrity across the organisation.

  • Prioritise and manage multiple pieces of work independently delivering to agreed deadlines ensuring timely outcomes in a fast-paced environment

  • Build and sustain effective cross functional working relationships at all levels including with Executive Directors and enhance collaboration and visibility for Internal Audits work

  • Apply and share best-practice insights drawn from your previous experience to support own and colleagues growth

  • Contribute proactively to driving continuous improvement and operational excellence

  • Keep update to date on legal regulatory statutory and internal requirements and modern risk and control techniques

Skills required

Minimum:

  • Proven experience of conducting internal investigations or internal audit assurance reviews against agreed standards timescales and budgets

  • Prior experience in investigating assessing and analysing information from a range of different sources

Essential:

  • Experience handling confidential complex and sensitive information in a corporate environment

  • Proven project management skills including the ability to apply project management disciplines in the delivery of investigations on time and budget in accordance with methodologies

  • Constructively evaluate and follow issues through while also having resilience to deal with setbacks

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • The ability to influence actively listen and work collaboratively as part of a team with experience of leading small teams and providing support to junior staff

  • The ability to develop strong working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
