Job Summary

The Food and Agriculture Institute (FAI) has many current and future research particular the FAI is co-leading a $3.1 million dollar grant from Genome Canada and expects to add new projects each year. Therefore the Coordinators primary role will be to oversee and facilitate a broad range of activities in support of these projects and activities of the FAI. Initially the project coordination focus will be the Genome Canada project.

The incumbent assists with records management reporting data management meeting organization event planning notetaking website organization and writing. The Coordinator assists with expense claims and prepares project plans for training and research projects.

The incumbent builds and sustains community relationships and partnerships and liaises with faculty and academic unit leads on campus to promote the FAI and its programs and to build partnerships within the university community.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Science/Social Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in project management event planning and experience working in the Food and Agriculture industry is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience related to operating and managing a Research Centre with writing proposals and researching new funding.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong relationship building and public relations skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Fraser Valley / Lower Mainland community agencies industry and business.
  • Strong computer skills with competency in software programs including MS Office.
  • Proficiency with Blackboard (or other online learning platforms) online meeting and event platforms (e.g. Zoom) and web content management systems.
  • Knowledge of and relationships with communities that the Centre works closely with; awareness of equity diversity and inclusion practices and cultural sensitivity.
  • Oral and written communication skills in an appropriate additional language would be an asset.
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
