Work Environment:
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite. Worksite for this position is Edmonton TowerAvenue NW Edmonton AB T5J 0J4. The successful candidate will be required to be on the worksite at min 2 days per week.

The City of Edmonton is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Corporate Research Student to join the Corporate Research team. Working under the guidance of Research Advisors you will gain hands-on experience by assisting with exciting and innovative public opinion research projects across the corporation.
Your role will focus on supporting the full research lifecycle including assisting with research planning questionnaire design online survey programming data cleaning/coding preliminary analysis and report preparation. These contributions are essential for gathering valuable input from Edmontonians which directly informs decision-making by city officials and elected representatives.
You will also support the team in investigating and gaining exposure to new tools and methodologies for public opinion research including AI-powered analytical tools.
What will you do
- Assist Research Advisors with the preparation and execution of research plans for market research and public opinion studies
- Support the development of research instruments such as questionnaires and discussion guides
- Conduct data validation and preliminary statistical analysis as well as assist with thematic coding and secondary research
- Support the management and maintenance of the corporate survey tools and online survey panel the Edmonton Insight Community
- Liaise with internal colleagues and external research vendors as required
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the corporation carrying out responsibilities with respect and inclusiveness
- Investigate emerging and innovative research tools being used in the market/public opinion research industry
- Assist with pilot testing new ways such as the application of generative AI and related tools to enhance data collection insights generation and report production
