Job Summary

Assistant Policy Officer

At the NSW Department of Education we educate and inspire lifelong learners from early childhood through schooling to vocational education and training.

  • Ongoing Full-Time
  • Located in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available
  • $99938 - $110271 plus superannuation

About the role

The National Policy & Reform team supports NSWs contribution to national Early Childhood Education and Care initiatives and policy reform. Were looking for someone who can bring strong coordination and organisational skills to our policy development and secretariat functions.

You will prepare meeting papers and minutes track actions and contribute to the drafting and coordination of policy advice to support NSWs input into national forums.

Attention to detail and clear written communication are important and youll be supported by an experienced and collaborative team that works together to maintain high standards and support each others learning.

The Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) division is responsible for ensuring all children make a strong start in life and learning and make a successful transition to school. The division will transform early childhood education and care child development and contribute to womens economic participation in NSW through improved access affordability and quality of care and services.

About you

As the Assistant Policy Officer you will be able to:

  • Deliver a variety of administrative support functions such as coordinating working groups and committees to facilitate stakeholder engagement and contribute to policy development and implementation.
  • Address routine policy enquiries by providing clear and consistent advice and information informed by input from subject matter experts.
  • Managing several policy support tasks simultaneously while meeting agreed standards objectives and tight deadlines amid competing priorities.
  • Produce clear concise and well-structured written briefs that effectively convey key information and support informed decision-making.
