Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics Section of Critical Care at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in partnership with Manning Family Childrens is seeking an academic pediatric intensivist at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure clinical track) to join our Pediatric Critical Care faculty group. The position will be on a non-tenure clinical track with academic rank to be determined by the candidates credentials and experience. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Manning Family Childrens is a very busy 18 bed unit with capabilities in all aspects of the critical care of children including ECMO solid organ and bone marrow transplant and renal replacement therapies and the hospital is a busy level 2 soon to be level 1 pediatric trauma center and is currently developing a pediatric burn center. The team will include 10 intensivists as well as a PICU hospitalist and an advanced care provider and cares for approximately 1500 patients annually. The service is a uniquely shared practice of the LSU and Tulane divisions of Pediatric Critical Care and serves as a teaching site for medical students and residents from both schools. The practice is well supported by all pediatric and surgical subspecialties interventional radiology and a growing vascular access team. The PICU team collaborates with Cardiovascular Intensive Care unit at Manning Family Childrens but that unit is staffed by dedicated cardiac intensivists and is not a responsibility of our section. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU is committed to providing excellence in education clinical care and research. The selected candidates will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including training medical students and residents. Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible to practice pediatric critical care. Manning Family Childrens Hospital is the only freestanding childrens hospital in Louisiana and serves as the primary pediatric teaching site for LSUHSC Pediatrics. Manning Family Childrens is a 263-bed not-for-profit pediatric medical center offering a comprehensive range of services for children from birth to 21 years with more than 600 pediatric providers and 3000 employees solely dedicated to the care of kids.
