Job Summary

The Department of Anthropology at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a nine-month Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor for the 2026-27 academic year. The contract start date is August 17 2026 and the end date is May 14 2027. **This position is subject to final budgetary approval. The course load is 18 credits (6 courses/year). Preference will be given to candidates who can teach the following courses:

ANTH 111 Introduction to Archaeology

ANTH 112 Introduction to Socio-Cultural Anthropology

ANTH 303 Anthropological Theory

Additional courses at the first second third and/or fourth year will be determined in consultation with the Department Chair.

The ideal candidate for this position has a doctorate in Anthropology or is ABD. The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to and proficiency in teaching at the undergraduate level.

Together we will craft pathways for intergenerational healing and vibrant nation-building.
