Senior Accountant
Location: Houston TX
Shift Timings: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM
Job Duration: 20 months with possible extension
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting and financial analysis assignments for the System. This role plays a key part in contributing to the accuracy of financial statements developing impactful analytics and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. The Senior Accountant also recommends improvements to accounting systems and procedures approves account reconciliations and provides training and guidance to accounting staff. This position supports hospital financial management and administrative leadership with timely and meaningful financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Perform complex accounting activities including journal entries month-end close tasks account reconciliations and financial reporting.
Contribute to the accuracy and integrity of the Systems financial statements.
Conduct detailed variance analysis and develop actionable financial insights for leadership.
Retrieve and analyze financial data from ERP and Business Intelligence systems.
Recommend improvements to accounting systems processes and internal controls.
Review and approve reconciliations prepared by accounting staff.
Provide mentoring training and guidance to junior accounting team members.
Support hospital financial administration with ad-hoc analysis reporting and special projects.
Ensure compliance with GAAP internal policies and audit requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
57 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in healthcare or a complex system environment.
Advanced financial accounting knowledge with the ability to handle complex transactions.
Strong analytical skills including the ability to prepare and interpret detailed variance analyses.
Experience retrieving and manipulating financial data from ERP systems and Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables VLOOKUPs and macros.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
