We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staffwhile helping detainees acquire valuable skills and receive the necessary treatment for success upon release.
Position Summary:
Reports to the deputy facility administrator. Directly supervises the lieutenant and gang intelligence officer. Responsible for the overall management of security functions in compliance with MTC and customer directives.
Essential Functions:
- Plan coordinate and direct the security functions for the facility
- Provide staff training evaluate staff performance and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by the deputy facility administrator and coordinated with the training manager human resources prior to implementation
- Assist the deputy facility administrator in the preparation of facility budget; monitor and control expenditures
- Develop and implement new and revised policies procedures and programs affecting security
- Direct procedures and practices relating to the training and security of detainees and staff; maintain constant vigilance of staff assignments to ensure adherence to policies rules and /regulations
- Supervise staff assignments for security functions
- Review report preparation for hearings and permanent records of detainees and monitor their rehabilitative prospects
- Assist in staff selection process ensuring compliance with applicable local and federal regulations and MTC directives
- Available to respond to work needs regardless of the time or day of the week. Respond to emergency situations or work cancelations that require to cover others shifts
- Act as duty facility administrator
- Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques
- Maintain accountability of staff detainees and property; adhere to safety practices
- Regular attendance required.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in correctional management criminal justice public/business administration education counseling or other related field and five (5) years related experience three (3) of which must be in supervisory capacity are required.
- Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid drivers license in the state of California with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.
