Job Summary

Hiring Specifications:

Education

  • Certificate Associates or Bachelors degree
  • Preferred social work background

Certification

  • Mandt Certification (Relational and Technical) required upon hire
  • Valid drivers license and dependable vehicle for primarily in-district travel

Experience

  • Experience working with students with behavior disorders and/or autism
  • Experience working with students who exhibit chronic behavior concerns
  • Experience in planning and delivering professional development
  • Experience working in a diverse urban school system
  • Experience working in intensive individualized programs addressing specific instructional and behavioral goals

Skills Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of/willingness to learn applied behavior analysis
    • Ability to work effectively cooperatively and respectfully with staff parents and community members regardless of race creed color gender sexual orientation gender identity ethnic/national origin religion marital status age socio-economic status or disability

  • Demonstrated record of commitment and sensitivity to affirmative action equal opportunity and human rights
  • Demonstrated experience as a self-starter

  • Capable and proficient in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students students parents colleagues and supervisors
  • Accepting of professional objective performance feedback with the ability to reflect and modify actions as needed to better support students

Technology Requirements

  • Basic computer skills (computer navigation email web browser Employee Portal)
  • Intermediate computer skills (Google Suites search function student information systems basic Promethean)
  • High computer skills (familiarity with Education Tech Tools Informational systems specific to the position
  • Ability to reach all skill levels listed if not already acquired

  • All district personnel

Job Duties:

  1. Learn and implement new information
  2. Implement behavior intervention plans and/or safety plans
  3. Coach and train adults on behavior interventions
  4. Collaborate with staff to ensure positive learning environments for students
  5. Provide individual support to students (this may include assistance with grooming healthcare mobility physical/verbal aggression token economies and reinforcement)
  6. Provide program support as needed
  7. Conduct preference assessments
  8. Ability to implement PBIS
  9. Ability to de-escalate students who are in crisis and/or approaching crisis
  10. Understanding of the Mandt Crisis Cycle
  11. Communicate in a clear and positive manner
  12. Builds positive relationships with students and staff
  13. Collect various forms of data
  14. Maintain strict confidentiality
  15. Follows and promotes the Mandt philosophy
  16. Attends all meetings as assigned
  17. Other duties as assigned
