About the Role
A reputable niche law firm with offices in Johannesburg Cape Town and Durban is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Associate Director to join its Johannesburg office. They are looking for a self-starter a strong leader and a seasoned legal professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision while managing complex legal matters and engaging key clients.
Key Performance Areas
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in:
- Commercial litigation
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
- Administrative law insolvency law and business rescue law
- Tax law litigation
- General civil litigation
- Conducting investigations and drafting detailed legal reports
- Working with public and private sector clients
- Delivering high-quality accurate legal work under pressure
- Professional client engagement and critical legal analysis
- Managing complex legal matters independently
- Applying strong business acumen and translating legal risk into strategic business decisions
Minimum Requirements
- Admitted Attorney with a valid practising certificate
- Minimum 9 years PQE
- Right of Appearance in the High Court
- Demonstrated leadership and management capability
- Highly organised with exceptional follow-through abilities
- Passion for developing junior legal professionals
- Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
- Entrepreneurial self-motivated and proactive mindset
- Ability to multi-task prioritise and manage heavy workloads
- Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours when required
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals
- Comfortable working in a culturally diverse environment
- Strong capability to review and interpret complex legal documents under strict deadlines
