Service Writer Advisor

Overview
The Service Advisor works proactively to ensure the daily operation of the service reception and that other service needs and expectations are met from customer inquiry through the completion of the invoice and follow-up. This work contributes to an optimized utilization of the service shop and long profitable relations with the customer.

Key Responsibilities
- Gather customer complaint details and expectations.
- Perform vehicle walk around inspection verify vehicle information.
- Connect to truck and perform on the spot vehicle diagnostics.
- Advise customers on the care of their vehicles and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturers specifications.
- Write up customers vehicle problems accurately and clearly on a service input card verify customer information. Obtain customers signature.
- Establish promised time based on shop workflow communicate with foreman.
- Establish customers method of payment. Obtain credit approval if necessary.
- Create repair order in the business system and assist in correct procedural work flow.
- Check on progress of repair throughout the day. Contact customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time explains cost and time requirements in detail and gets proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed.

General Knowledge and Skills You Need
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge of International and IC Bus products and services to effectively support customer needs and business processes.
- Uphold safety and health standards by following policies and procedures to ensure a safe compliant and sustainable work environment for all employees.
- Deliver exceptional service by maintaining strong client relationships and consistently meeting the needs of internal and external customers.
- Take initiative and drive solutions by addressing issues proactively and seizing opportunities.
- Identify and resolve issues efficiently escalating complex problems as needed.
- Collaborate proactively to support a cohesive work environment and achieve shared goals.
Desired Education & Experience
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Knowledge of Trucks/Trailers
- 1 year experience preferred but not required.
