Subject to formal establishment amendment a vacancy will arise for a Wing Commander (Engineer Eng (AS)) to serve as a Senior Certification Specialist in the Military Aviation Authority MOD Abbey Wood on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve (90) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 01 April 2026.
Brief description of role:
The Senior Certification Specialist will primarily focus on mentoring and competence development and the governance of Certification Rule Making activity to develop appropriate regulation and guidance and processes. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Provision of specialist Certification advice to and mentoring of Deputy Head Certification and Certification Division Heads of Branch.
- Delivery of Cert Div specialist training and Certification competence development for all personnel.
- Authorship of the Cert Div Handbook and Military Manual of Aircraft Certification.
- Lead on the Certification Rule-making Board activity for the development of Certification Regulation Policy and Guidance.
- Lead on support to the MAA International Engagement and Recognition Team for the development of Certification Implementing Arrangements for the exploitation of Recognition.
